The Network

Survivors connecting with survivors

POGO’s Survivor-to-Survivor Network is a new initiative by SAVTI to:

  • Connect survivors with their peers
  • Allow workshop facilitators and the network mentor to gain valuable skills that will help them achieve their professional and educational goals
  • Recognize survivors as experts in the survivor experience
  • Provide opportunities for survivors to attend or facilitate networking events that are structured to support fellow survivors through academic, employment and community resource transitions
Survivors are the main drivers of the program, however, SAVTI counsellors are available for support and encouragement. The main objective of this program is to provide survivors with experiences that will expose them to challenges and personal and professional development and prepare them for the next stage of their life.  The facilitators and mentors that run the program on a year-to-year basis will receive an honorarium depending on available funding.

SAVTI is hoping that the benefits of this program will include development in the areas of:

  • Self-confidence
  • Public speaking experience
  • Program development skills
  • Organization skills
  • Time management skills
  • Mentorship experience
  • Social skills and community building
  • Reduction in isolation
  • Resource awareness
  • Education

We want you to be a part of this!  Whether you decide to apply to become a facilitator or a mentor, or whether you attend the workshops to learn and socialize, we welcome whatever part you would like to play in building this community.

Please watch out for email invitations to workshops happening in your region.  Please don't hesitate to contact SAVTI for more information on how you can get involved!!!
