Creative Corner

Meet Samantha Dennis, an Ontario College of Art and Design graduate pursuing her love of painting!

My name is Samantha Dennis. I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2001, relapsed in 2005, and officially entered remission in 2008.

I always knew from a young age that I loved art. I started drawing portraits from photographs when I was a child. Art has really helped me through some difficult times in my diagnosis.

When it came to art, there was no other option but to pursue it in post-secondary. In 2014, I graduated from OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto) with a Bachelor in Fine Arts and a minor in social sciences. I then completed an event management post-grad certificate at Humber College (Toronto).

It seems timely that this year, April marked my 10-year anniversary of being in remission and I got to celebrate that by also having my first public show at a gallery.
