Stars in a Jar

Stars in a Jar is an organization that brings together childhood cancer survivors and childhood cancer patients in a unique way. They become connected through a collection of positive messages handwritten and folded into origami stars. A collection of these stars is placed into a jar and delivered to a patient. What is special is that each collection of stars is authored by a cancer survivor. In total, each jar has 90 origami messages which include stories about the survivor’s cancer journey, positive affirmations, jokes and much more.

We currently have seven survivors in Ottawa who have authored their own collection of messages and we are always looking for more! If you are interested in making your own collection or if you would like to join our volunteer nights where we handwrite and fold origami, give us a shout.
